04 → Amarelli - museum

The Giorgio Amarelli Licorice Museum embraces the theme of Alchemy by incorporating workshops, store, bistrot and more.

Situated in Rossano (CS) on Calabria's Ionian coast, the region’s unique climate is ideal for the natural growth of licorice plants. This led the Amarelli family to establish their factory in 1731, which has since become one of the leading licorice producers worldwide.
In 2001, the “Giorgio Amarelli” museum was launched to share the rich history of licorice and is now part of the Italian association Museimpresa.

Bistrot Alchimia

At the Bistrot Alchimia, visitors can enjoy a unique tasting experience centered around licorice.
The bistrot features a fully glazed, self-supporting bioclimatic pergola, making it usable in any season. To provide shaded and more sheltered areas, sails have been placed outside, creating different seating zones to accommodate various needs.

Reception & Factory Store

Upon entering the reception, Amarelli staff will guide visitors through the various activities available within the complex. From the very first moment, guests are enveloped in an enchanting atmosphere, surrounded by soft lighting and dark tones that evoke the deep allure of licorice.

At the end of the visit, guests can head to the factory store to purchase products and enjoy an experience that turns them into true alchemists: equipped with special bowls and tweezers, they can create their own personalized licorice boxes.

Logo

The following points outline the criteria and values considered in the project’s development, and it is from their fusion that “Alchimia” was born. The logo not only features the letters that spell "Alchimia" but also incorporates the initials of "licorice," "museum," and "Amarelli."
